PRI Activity Database

Background

Welcome to the PRI Activity Database, an internactive, web-based tool with searchable information on more than 1,400 transactions (program-related and other social investments) offered exclusively to regular members of the PRI Makers Network. The database was designed to aid grantmakers in performing due diligence, identifying successful investments, and developing a richer and more solid program of program-related investments.

The information on this set of investments was initially collected through the efforts of FSG Social Impact Advisors. The Foundation Center designed, built, and hosts the database. The PRI Makers Network and the Foundation Center are currently updating the collection to ensure its relevance and usefulness. If you have transactions or new information you would like to submit to this database, please contact info@primakers.net.

Search the Database

Take the time to explore the database and glean insights into how social investments have been structured or used to fulfill grantmakers' objectives. These are the fields of data from which you can search:

  • Funder Name
  • Recipient Organization
  • Recipient Type (such as Bank, Credit Union, For-Profit, Intermediary, etc.)
  • Recipient Location (Domestic or International)
  • Location supported by investment
  • Geographic Scope of the Investment (such as Neighborhood, City/Town, County, Regional, etc.)
  • Investment Instrument (such as Bond, Charitable Use Asset, Credit Enhancement, Linked Deposit, Venture Capital Fund, etc.)
  • Use of Proceeds (such as Land Trust, Business Start-Up/Expansion, Mortgage Financing, Working Capital, etc.)
  • Purpose (such as affordable housing, microfinance or environmental qualify, etc.)
  • Population Group served (such as Immigrants, Children and Youth, Disabled, Poor/Economically Disadvantaged, etc.)
  • PRI status (closed, open, etc.)

To browse through all listings, leave all search parameters blank and hit "search." You will be able to sort the full listing according to funder name, recipient name, investment amount, closing date, or PRI status.

Search Tips

You may search for as many or as few variables as you like, but understand that with more complex requirements, the data may yield few or no data points. For example, if you search on only one criteria - that the purpose is "affordable housing" - you might retrieve hundreds of records. You can then sort them by funder name, recipient name, investment amount, closing date, or PRI status (by clicking on the header of the column) in order to present the data as you'd like to see it. If you have geographic limitations on your investments and are interested only in recipients or beneficiaries from your region, select only those cities, counties, states, or countries in which you are interested.

If you want the available details about a particular transaction, click on the recipient or the dollar amount for the complete record of that transaction. Bear in mind that there might not be complete information. - this data was self-reported by the funding institutions. You might want to contact the grantmaker directly regarding additional or anecdotal details about a particular investee. Complete contact information for individual grantmakers is available by clicking on the "Grantmaker" button on the PRI Detail page describing individual transactions.

Be aware that the system will not interpret your data request. It will only deliver the transactions corresponding to exactly what you enter. (For example, the data will not interpret NY as New York.) You may need to try a few different data configurations to retrieve all that you seek. Also, bear in mind that the terminology used in the database is consistent with lending jargon and is hopefully familiar to you. For example, "closing date" means the date the loan was originated.

General Disclaimer

All the data in the PRI Activity Database has been self-reported by the funders. None of the data has been verified or qualified. We recognize that there are many holes in the information at this point and hope to collect additional data on an ongoing basis. Please contact us if you have any questions at info@primakers.net.
